How to choose a NAS

• Estimate the capacity you need and allow for 2–3 years of data growth

• Choose enough drive bays for your RAID level, such as RAID 5 / 6 or SHR

• For server rooms with racks, choose a rackmount model and rail kit

• For many concurrent users, choose a model with 10GbE or an expansion slot for a network card

Frequently asked questions

Is a NAS a backup?

RAID protects against drive failure, but it is not a backup. Keep another copy elsewhere, such as a second NAS or the cloud.

What is an expansion unit for?

It adds drive bays to supported NAS models when you run out of space, without replacing the NAS.

Do prices include VAT?
